Life-long Learning
I am a registered Nutritional Therapist, with a strong commitment to lifetime learning. I hold a first-class degree in Nutritional Therapy and a Master's Degree in Personalised Nutrition from CNELM (accredited through Middlesex University). I have completed a two-year post-graduate diploma in clinical psych-neuro-immunology (cPNI), and gained NTEC accreditation for Nutritional Therapy supporting cancer.
While formal training is the bedrock, I found my most valuable learning through my undergraduate and postgraduate dissertations. For my BSc, I researched the relationship between inflammation and major depression. In my postgraduate studies, I explored metabolism and cancer-related cachexia. This combination has given me the confidence to work independently to interpret complex biomedical research, an essential skill when working with individuals with complex diseases such as mental health and cancer.
This independence often sets me apart from other nutritionists. I have extensively researched the link between red meat and cancer, finding it tenuous at best. Similarly, I have reached the same conclusion regarding the nitrates and nitrites found in bacon. When working with me I aim to make mealtime nutritious and enjoyable.
Teaching and Lecturing
Having gained invaluable personal experience, I am now privileged to combine my role as a therapist with teaching. I serve as a module leader, tutor, and lecturer at CNELM, where I teach BSc and MSc modules on dietary education, mental health, sports nutrition, and cancer.
Professional Accreditations
I am a member of the British Association for Nutrition and Lifestyle Medicine (BANT), and the Complementary and Natural Health Care Council (CNHC), which protects the public with a code of conduct, ethics, and performance for registered natural healthcare practitioners.
